“Everybody wants to fulfill the highest,
truest expression of themselves
as a human being.”
-Oprah Winfrey
As a mom of four kids who is also managing multiple businesses, I understand how challenging it can be to juggle the many areas of our lives. What do we prioritize? How do we create a balance between all our responsibilities as well as our own wellbeing and joy? I’ve taken the systems I learned to create successful businesses and applied them to creating a system for success in life.
This system has helped me to get clear on exactly what I want in all areas of my life, what are the priorities I want to focus on right now, a Menu of Strategies that provides me with many options for taking action, and a system for tracking progress on a regular basis.
Problem:
It’s hard to hold in our minds all the areas of our life we want to improve and all the ways we could improve them and then to prioritize what actions we’re going to take.
Solution:
I’ve created a system for documenting and organizing what areas of your life you want to master, your Menu of Strategies for how you will achieve it and a way to track your progress over time.
Quick Start 3-Step Process
Here’s a brief description of the quickest way to start a life manual.
step 1: Identify life areas
Begin by choosing just three areas of your life you want to focus on improving right now. Write each down at the top of a blank page.
Examples: physical health, emotional health, spiritual well-being, time management, intimate relationship, parenting, friendships, career, finances, home maintenance, volunteering, etc.
step 2: ask 3 questions
Then on each page, clarify the answer to three important questions for each area of your life:
1. What is your vision for being your best self in this area?
2. Why do you need to improve this area and what is your motivation to improve?
3. What are some of the best actions you can take to improve this area right now?
step 3: schedule new habits
Many of the action items you write down will be new habits you can implement into your life. Choose one or two new habits you feel you can start to implement into your life right now. Once a habit becomes regular and consistent, choose a new habit from your Life Manual to commit to implementing. By implementing new habits, we become the person we want to be.
